We do love reading fanfictions, and we can't help but get affectioned to certain original characters. But do we love sequels too? What should a sequel have to be worth reading, and what should be absolutely avoided?

Hard question... What should be avoided is when plots start to repeat themselves; that's a big sign that you'd better stop. Also, when the character or the story-line gets unbelievable or far-fetched, you'd better quit with this story and start another. And what's worth reading? When I read a sequel it's because I love the characters and I want to know what will happen to them after the original story has ended. There might be some questions that haven't been answered yet, and it's nice to use those for a next story. On the other hand you can't give away everything, or things might get predictable. Plus, we all love a little mystery, don't we?
And now you better start writing that sequel of S&E that you've been going on about for ages!

I think sequels are best when there's still something that can be said in the story. Like if it's finished, but still has some things that can be added to it. (like, for examble, the Snake and the Eagle that just begs for a sequel... ;-) )
