Did you know that Snape's birthday is on the 9th of January? When I fist found it out, I thought that was a date like any others. Then, I read that January is commonly associated with the ancient god Janus, famous for his being two-faced. Therefore, I don't think it's a coincidence that Jo Rowling decided to choose that month for his birthday. He is a double-agent, and he's been considered a traitor many times. Moreover, someone usually said to be two-faced is someone deceiving. I still hope Snape is good, but found this association with Janus very interesting.

Cool! I didn't know that. I don't think it's a coincidence either. But does the 9 maybe mean something?

Wow, that's a good find, I never realised that. I knew that JK was toying a bit with the zodiac sign ( and I think Capricorn fits Snape nicely), but i must admit I never really looked farther than that. I dunno about the number 9 though. I believe it is usually viewed as a 'full cycle'. 3 times 3, 3 being the holy number. But I'm not sure.
